During the initial consultation, the surgeon will discuss options, risks and process with you, and advise you of the tests that are required.  Through video conferencing and pre-procedure tests, the surgeon will make careful judgments about the work to be done based on your current condition.

An important note about costs:  After each procedure the fee is indicated as “Starting from…”.  Each person is different and there may be more or less work associated with your chosen procedure when compared to someone else.  Therefore, we can only provide estimates, starting from the minimum charge for the most basic version of the indicated procedure.  You will know the full cost after consultation with the surgeon and before you are committed to anything.  The final fee quoted to you will be the full cost, including the procedure itself, prescriptions/garments, flight and ground transportation, the hotel, our fee and insurance. Prices do not include GST.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) – From $ 3,500 CDN (for upper and lower), $2,750 for either.

eyeBlepharoplasty is a surgery designed to correct defects and disfigurations of the eyelids.  Drooping or sagging of the upper eyelid from excess skin and fat can lead to heavy looking eyelids, puffiness and an aged appearance.  It can even impair a person’s vision.  The surgeon will remove any excess skin and fat and, if necessary, will remove or tighten eye muscles and tissue.  The surgeon may also add fat to the eyelid, depending on the desired result.

Lower eyelid surgery is also available to minimize the appearance of baggy or puffy lower eyelids.  This condition can be caused by a combination of herniating fat, excessive skin, and edema (water retention). The goal of lower eyelid surgery is to produce a smooth contour from the lower lash line down to the mid-face.

The surgeon may also do some laser resurfacing at the time of the eyelid surgery to improve the tone and tautness of the skin, thereby reducing lines and wrinkles.

Eyelid Surgery: Brow Lift – From $ 3,000 CDN

A brow lift corrects sagging in the forehead/eyebrow area by tightening and lifting the skin. This procedure is often done in conjunction with others to ensure a consistent, younger appearance. The surgeon will make an incision beginning at the level of your ears and going up and around by your hairline (to minimize the visibility of the scar). Tissue, muscle and skin will be maneuvered or removed to drastically reduce sagging and wrinkles.

Ear Surgery (Otoplasty) – From $3,000 CDN

earOtoplasty is a procedure to change the shape, position or size of the ears. It is to correct defects in the structure of the ear such as abnormally large ear lobes, “lop ear” (ear tips that fold down and trend forward), or “shell ear” (certain features of a normal ear are missing).

The technique used will depend on the kind of correction that is required.  It may involve making a small incision at the back of the ear to access the cartilage and sculpt the cartilage to the desired shape. It may involve cutting out the cartilage of the ear or folding and stitching that cartilage instead of cutting it away.  After the surgery is complete, the incision site will be secured with sutures to anchor the ear until healing occurs.

Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty) – From $5,000 CDN

noseRhinoplasty is a procedure to change the size, shape, and angle of the nose.  It can help correct respiratory issues, structural problems due to congenital defects or trauma, and it can be used for aesthetic enhancement.

The upper portion of the nose is made of bone and the lower portion is made of cartilage.  The surgeon can modify bone, cartilage, skin or all three starting with hidden incisions.  A splint will be placed outside the nose to support the new shape of the nose as it heals.

The results of rhinoplasty are permanent.  It should be noted that cosmetic surgery should only be done on a fully developed nose (after age 15 or 16 in females and age 17 or 18 in males).

Full Facelift (Rhytidectomy) – From $11,500 CDN

As we age, our faces become increasingly saggy and wrinkled due to loosening muscles and decreasing elasticity of the skin. It is perfectly natural, although genetics, poor diet, smoking, or obesity can make skin problems start sooner or get worse faster.

Facelifts are done to make an older face look younger by drastically reducing wrinkles, lifting sagging muscles, and tightening the skin. The effects of a facelift surgery may usually last for 7 to 10 years as a person’s face will still continue to age.  For best results, patients should maintain a stable body weight and avoid smoking.

The technique used will depend on the kind of correction that is required.   A traditional facelift incision often begins in the hairline at the temples, continues around the ear and ends in the lower scalp. Fat may be sculpted or redistributed from the face, jowls and neck, and underlying tissue may be repositioned.  It is common for the deeper layers of the face and the muscles to also be lifted.  Skin is redraped over the uplifted contours and excess skin is trimmed away.  A second incision under the chin may be necessary to further improve an aging neck. Sutures or skin adhesives close the incisions.

For best results, a facelift can be done in combination with some other cosmetic procedures, such as a brow lift or eyelid surgery.

Mini Facelift – From $6,500 CDN

Mini facelift surgery is like a traditional facelift in that it aims to correct wrinkles and sagging skin.  The procedure focuses on the lower third of the face using small incisions starting around the ears. It restores definition to the chin by removing excess tissue and carefully tightening remaining tissue.

Neck Lift (Platysmaplasty) – From $6,500 CDN

shutterstock_153393146Whether due to aging or weight loss, many people experience sagging or drooping skin around the neck area.  Common problems include “turkey wattle”, excess fat and excess or loose skin.

A neck lift is a procedure or set of procedures that can enhance the appearance of the neck by removing excess skin, altering your neck muscles, and/or removing excess fat.  It may also involve the use of Botox® injections to address problems with fullness or “bands”.

The technique used will depend on the kind of correction that is required.  The surgeon may make incisions near the ears to access the skin, tissue and muscles. Liposuction procedures may require a small incision below the chin to allow suctioning of excess fat.

Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) – From $6,900 CDN

arm1Age, weight changes, pregnancy or genetic factors can lead to sagging or drooping skin on your upper arms.  Even with extensive exercise, loose skin and localized fat deposits may still remain and can only be corrected by an arm lift.

An arm lift aims to reduce excess sagging skin, tighten and smooth the underlying tissue that defines the shape of the arm, and reduce localized pockets of fat.  For a moderate amount of extra skin, a full arm lift would be appropriate. However, if the extra arm skin extends onto the side of the chest, an extended arm lift is advisable as it can remove arm skin, armpit skin and chest skin.

The length and pattern of the incision used will depend on how much skin will be removed.  Typically, a full arm lift involves an incision on the back of the arm, often from the underarm to the elbow.  After making the incisions, the surgeon will remove any excess skin and fat from between the armpit and elbow.   The arm lift may also be combined with liposculpture, a procedure where subcutaneous fatty tissue is taken away. The skin will then be draped over the new contours and excess skin will be removed to create a more toned look.

Mini-Arm Lift – From $3,900  CDN

Similar to a regular arm lift, a mini-arm lift removes excess fat and skin but instead of a scar running under the arm from elbow to armpit, the entire scar will be located in the armpit where it is much less noticeable. This procedure is best for patients with very small amount of extra skin in the arms, good skin quality, limited fatty tissue, and no stretch marks.

Hand Lift – From $3,900 CDN

Since the skin on the back of the hands is extremely thin, the loss of fat “padding” shows as people age.  Our hands lose firmness and plumpness and the underlying structures appear and make them look bony and fragile, with tendon, bone and vein protrusion.

There are a number of procedures available to address concerns relating to the size and shape of a woman’s breasts.

Breasts will gradually lose their firmness over time.  Age is one factor contributing to this change, although it is often exacerbated by pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes or even genetic factors.  Medical conditions may necessitate the removal of one or both breasts (mastectomies) such that a reconstruction may be desired.

Some women may also have breasts that are abnormally large, which can lead to health problems, or they may have breasts that they consider too small or not as aesthetically pleasing as they could be.

Your choice as to the best procedure for you will be made in consultation with your surgeon and it will depend on the nature of your concerns and the desired end result

Breast Augmentation (Implants Only —No Lift) – From $7,500 CDN

breast2A breast implant is a prosthesis used to improve the size, form, and texture of a woman’s breast.  Breast implants are often used for reconstructive or cosmetic purposes.

Reconstructive purposes:

Cosmetic/aesthetic purposes:

  • Enlarge breasts that are naturally small.
  • Restore breast size and shape after pregnancy, weight loss, or breastfeeding.
  • Also for creating breasts in the male-to-female transsexual

Patients must be at least 18 years old to get saline-filled implants and at least 22 years old to receive silicone implants as breasts continue to develop until a woman reaches her late teens or early 20s.

There are three general types of breast implants: Saline solution, silicone gel, and composite filler.

The implant will be positioned between your breast tissue and chest muscle or behind your chest muscle, depending on your preference and the advice of the surgeon.

Breast Reduction Including Lift – From $7,500 CDN

Breast Reduction with Implants – From $8,500 CDN

breast3Breast reduction surgery is done for patients with unusually large breasts that cause cosmetic concerns, medical problems or self-esteem issues. The goal of the procedure is to create an aesthetic and flattering breast shape while achieving a more proportioned breast size. The surgery can improve a person’s lifestyle, reduce back or shoulder pain, and result in easier performance of activities.

The surgeon will make an incision at the nipple then downward on the breast.   The excess skin, tissue, and fat will be removed, and the nipple will be relocated so the breast’s appearance will be natural.

There is also the option of getting implants in conjunction with this procedure.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy) – From $7,500 CDN

Breast Lift with Implants – From $8,500 CDN

breast1A breast lift will raise the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the remaining breast tissue.  There are 3 common incision patterns:

  • Around the areola
  • Around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease
  • Around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease, and horizontally along the breast crease

Once the appropriate incision is made, the underlying breast tissue is lifted and reshaped to improve the contour and firmness.  Excess skin is removed, and the nipple and areola are repositioned higher on the breast to restore a more youthful appearance.

This surgery will not significantly change the size of the breasts or round out the upper portion.  To change the shape, fullness or perkiness of breasts, a person should consider combining a lift with either breast augmentation or breast reduction.

Buttocks Lift (Lipectomy) – From $7,100 CDN

Buttocks Lift with Implants – From $8,400CDN

buttocksA buttock lift can help improve the shape and contour of buttocks for a sleeker and more toned appearance.

The procedure involves removing fat and/or excess skin from the buttocks. Liposuction alone can leave excess hanging skin that would require a lift.  By raising and tightening the skin, a buttock lift makes the buttocks appear less saggy, dimpled, or wrinkled.

A buttock lift will not, however, add volume.  Buttocks implants are intended for men and women who would like more curves and/or a well-balanced physique.  They are used to reshape, improve, and augment the buttock area. The implants are made of solid silicone, which cannot break or leak any fluid into the body, and they are not located on the bone that is used to carry a person’s weight.  The augmented rear end has a firm but natural feel.

Thigh lift (Thighplasty) – From $7,900 CDN

thighAge, weight changes, pregnancy or genetic factors can lead to sagging or drooping skin on a person’s thighs.  Even with extensive exercise, loose skin and localized fat deposits may still remain and can only be corrected by a thigh lift.  A thigh lift reshapes the thighs by removing excess skin, and in some cases fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body.

Thigh lifts are not intended strictly for the removal of excess fat. Liposuction alone can remove excess fat deposits where skin has good elasticity and is able to naturally conform to new body contours. However, where the elasticity of the skin is comparatively poor, a combination of liposuction and thigh lift techniques are recommended.

There are 2 types of thigh lifts:

Medial Thigh Lift

Targets the inner thigh. An incision will be made at the area where the thigh and pubic area meet. A wedge of skin and fat is then removed and the skin is closed.

Lateral Thigh Lift

Targets the outer thigh.  An incision will be made at the top of the leg where the lower edge of a person’s underwear would be.  A certain amount of skin will then be removed before pulling the remaining skin up and attaching it to the same area. This serves to tighten the skin along both the right and left side of the leg. This is especially helpful to those who have excess skin after significant weight loss.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) – From $7,400 CDN

tummyAfter weight loss or pregnancy a person may have remaining loose skin and fat deposits around the abdominal area, despite intensive exercise and dieting.  A tummy tuck involves the removal of the excess skin and fat (potentially through liposuction) from the middle and lower abdomen as well as the tightening of the abdominal muscles.  This will create abdominal contouring that is smoother and firmer.

It is important to note that women who are planning on getting pregnant in the future should postpone a tummy tuck until after they are finished having children.  Also, those who still want or need to lose additional weight should exhaust other avenues before considering a tummy tuck as it should not be used as an alternative to weight loss.

There are 2 main types of tummy tucks:

Complete Abdominoplasty

tummy-tuck2A lengthy incision is used and the skin, tissue and muscle of the entire abdominal area are contoured as needed.  The incision can be from hipbone to hipbone, or may also involve a vertical incision from sternum to the pubic area.  A complete tummy tuck involves moving your belly button.

There are a number of options or techniques that fall under the category of complete abdominoplasty:

An extended abdominoplasty is a complete abdominoplasty plus a thigh lift. This operation does all of the abdominal contouring of a complete abdominoplasty and allows further improvement of the waist. Results from the procedure are a flatter, more taut abdomen overall, and often a smaller waistline as well.

  •  A high lateral tension tummy tuck is a new method in which the muscles are also tightened horizontally in addition to vertical-line tightening with conventional abdominoplasty. The final result with this technique is a dramatically flat abdomen with a significantly better-defined waistline.
  •  The floating abdominoplasty or FAB technique allows for tightening and shaping through a smaller incision. The belly button is temporarily detached, and the muscles are tightened and reshaped from the sternum to the pubic area. The skin is then tightened and the belly button is reattached.
  •  A circular tummy tuck involves the removal of excess skin, tissue and fat from around the entire abdominal region (front, sides and back).

Partial or Mini Adbominoplasty

This is a smaller version of a tummy tuck that is typically done on people where fat deposits and loose skin are located beneath the navel.  With a partial tummy tuck, the belly button is not moved.

Torso Liposuction and Contouring – From $6,500 CDN for up to three areas

lipoLiposuction body contouring is a surgical procedure that removes fat deposits throughout the torso (from the bra-line to the lower hip all the way around the body, front and back) vastly improving the shape and contour of the midsection.

It must be noted that this is for improving the overall shape of the torso beyond what might be accomplished through diet and exercise alone.  It should not be considered a weight loss procedure.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure to remove fat deposits wherever they may occur on the body.  Although it is often performed as part of other cosmetic procedures (e.g. tummy tucks, thigh lifts) it can also be performed as a stand-alone procedure.  Multiple areas can be done during one procedure.  It should be noted that liposuction is designed to remove fat deposits that are resistant to exercise and dieting and it is not intended as a weight-loss procedure.

The surgeon uses a process called tumescent liposuction, which involves the injection of tumescent anaesthetic fluid (a mix of saline, lidocaine and a vasoconstrictor) into the fatty areas.  The tumescent anaesthetic fluid liquefies the fat, making it much easier to remove using a small cannula (a stainless steel tube connected to a suction pump) inserted through a small incision.

Liposuction can be done on the abdomen, chest (including the under-arm area), arms, legs, buttocks, face (especially the chin area) and back.

It is important to remember that liposuction will simply remove some of the fatty deposits.  Lifestyle changes (diet and exercise) may be required to maintain the improved figure and contours.  Weight gain can still occur as a result of overeating, unhealthy eating and/or lack of exercise and these may negate the benefits of the procedure.

Our surgeon offer both permanent and temporary fillers. For temporary fillers the brand choices are Surgiderm, Juvederm or Restylane.

lipCosmetic fillers are materials injected underneath the skin to make it fuller.  After an injection, the fuller skin is smoother, with fewer wrinkles, and looks younger.

Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that can give a person fuller, plumper lips.  An injectable dermal filler is the most commonly used method of lip augmentation.  There are many types of dermal fillers that can be injected in the lips and around the mouth, but the most common fillers today are products that contain substances similar to hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body.

Permanent fillers, such as polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) fillers are also available.  Unlike other fillers, such as collagen and hyaluronic acid, this material does not break down.

Botox® – Price to be given after doctor consultation.

botoxBotox® is the brand name of a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. There are also other brand names, such as Dysport and Xeomin.  Botox® blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles so the injected muscle cannot contract. That makes the wrinkles relax and soften.  Botox® is most often used on forehead lines, crow’s feet (lines around the eye), and frown lines. Wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity will not respond to Botox®. It can also be used for lip lines and for the chin and corner of the mouth and neck.

The effects from Botox® will last four to six months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and need to be treated again. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles are being trained to relax.

Lip Implants – From $2,500 CDN

Lip implants provide permanent lip augmentation with more refined results than fillers, making them a good option for people with thin lips.
